Elkay helps you keep your Corian® surface beautiful
Elkay
helps you keep your Corian® surface beautiful You’ve selected
your Corian® counter top or sink for many reasons—its
seamless, one-piece appearance. Its resistance to chips and cracks
or because of its non-porous surface.
For all those reasons, you want your counter top and/or
sink to remain as beautiful as it was the day it was installed.
Elkay knows that and recommends the following for routine care as
well as how to prevent damage to your Corian® surface.
Routine Care:
- Use soapy water or an ammonia-based cleaner to
remove most stains and dirts.
- Rid the surface of watermarks by wiping with a
damp cloth and towel dry.
- Combat those difficult stains by using an abrasive
cleanser and a new ScotchBrite® pad.
- Disinfect by occasionally wiping surface with 1
part water and 1 part bleach.
- Occasionally clean your Corian® sink by filing
one-quarter full with a 50/50 water/bleach solution. Let soak
for 15 minutes, then wash sides and bottom as solution drains
and thoroughly rinse.
Preventing Damage to your Corian® surface:
- Avoid exposing your Corian® surface to strong
chemicals, such as paint removers, oven cleaners, etc. If contact
occurs, quickly flush the surface with water.
- Remove nail polish with a non-acetone based nail
polish remover and flush with water.
- Do not allow food, beverage residue or metal canned
products to remain on your Corian® surface.
- Do not cut directly on your Corian® surface.
- Run cold water when pouring boiling water into
your Corian® sink.
- Do not set hot pans directly onto your Corian®
surface.
Repairing your Corian® surface:
Don’t worry about a minor cut or scratch here
and there. The solid beauty of Corian® runs all the way through
the surface, allowing you to remove minor cuts. To do so, sand with
180 or 220-grit fine sandpaper until the cut or scratch is gone.
Restore the finish with an abrasive cleaner and a new ScotchBrite®
pad.
