Remodeling Help from NARI
You've finally decided to do it. You're going
to tackle that remodeling project you've wanted to do for years.
That decision probably brings a million questions.
One of your biggest will be who to hire to tackle what may seem
like an overwhelming project. First, do some research to narrow
your options, then narrow your options to two or three, and interview
possible candidates for the job.
The National Association of the Remodeling Industry
(NARI) provides helpful bits of information to inquire about in
the interview, before you sign a remodeling contract:
- How long has the company been in business?
- What is his/her approach to a project like yours?
- How many projects has the contractor completed
similar to yours?
- Who will be working on your project - employees
or subcontractors?
- Whether or not he/she is a member of a national
trade association
- If either the remodeler or employees have been
certified in remodeling or had any additional special training.
- Does the company carry workers compensation and
liability insurance?
- Ask for a list of references
This will help you get started. For more helpful information on
remodeling, visit the National Association of the Remodeling Industry
