Simple Spring Cleaning Tips from American Standard

Spring is officially here, which for most of us means cleaning time. Provided below are a few tips to help when you're cleaning your bathroom and kitchen. Now you don't need to purchase any fancy cleaners. What we suggest, you probably already have in your cabinet.

Did you know that some soaps and detergents meant to clean dirty dishes and laundry do a terrific job when cleaning bathroom fixtures, such as toilets and sinks? Liquid dishwashing soap is an effective general cleaner for chinaware, porcelain enamel and acrylic surfaces. Laundry detergent is a great tool for cleaning areas exposed to hard water. For those especially hard to clean stains, use a non-abrasive cleaner, such as Mr. Clean All-Purpose or Bon Ami.

Vinegar is great for more than just cooking and cleaning windows. Vinegar does wonders when it comes to cleaning soapy gunk on chrome faucet spouts and handles. Soak a paper towel in white wine vinegar, and then squeeze out the excess. Wrap it around the chrome fixture and wait 10 minutes. Take off the wet towel and buff the faucet with a dry one. However, do not use this method on brass or colored fixtures.

Don't put the vinegar away quite yet. Pour some vinegar down your clogged sink to clear away soap residue. For more great cleaning tips go to www.us.amstd.com.
