American Standard helps make a room appear larger

You have a small bathroom, but you don't know how to make it appear larger. There are quite a few tricks to making a room appear larger. The people at American Standard, the bathroom experts, offer a few suggestions on how to make your existing bathroom seem like a great room.

  • Use light, cooler colors. These colors trick the eye, opening up the room.
  • Use wallpaper with a small pattern to help expand the space.
  • By using a lot of lighting such as a skylight or a bay window, the room will seem to be more open. Incorporating a glass block wall will have a similar effect.
  • If the room is long and narrow, paint the short walls a darker color to give them more weight.
  • The use of reflective surfaces can give the illusion of a larger room. Try replacing your vanity top with a shiny marble top or installing a shatterproof glass shower enclosure. In the same manner, mirrors will enhance the size of the room.
  • Make the most of unused vertical space for storage. Place a cabinet above the toilet or use decorative hanging baskets or hooks.
