American Standard makes designing baths with special
needs easy, attractive.
Homeowners are considering their future
needs when designing and building bathrooms. Today many are integrating
accessible design features for disabled or elderly friends and family
to ensure a functional and attractive bath for years to come.
American Standard is making designing easy by offering
a wide variety of accessibly styled productions. Wall-hung fixtures
such as the Murro lavatory, Porcher's Salangane Suite and the Kimera
Suite by Absolute® offer beautiful product options that allow
the homeowner to determine the placement and height of their fixtures.
Other American Standard products like the Roma® countertop lavatory,
Cadet® toilet and the Ceratherm thermostatic shower valve with
a Hot Limit Safety Stop to prevent scalding, provide numerous special
bath design options.
Here are several design suggestions to consider:
- Install grab bars near toilets, showers and tubs.
- Eliminate ridges, steps or other barriers on a
shower stall for easy access.
- Select faucets that offer scald protection `features
- Consider easy-to-use single-lever faucets for the
sink, shower and tub
- Adjustable bathroom mirrors are convenient for
children as well as wheelchair users.
- Hand-held shower and tub sprays can make bathing
easier and more accommodating.
- Install a permanent or fold-down seat in the shower
or tub.
- Console vanities, pedestal sinks and wall-mounted
lavatories are both beautiful and accessible options for persons
in wheelchairs.
