American Standard livens up the children’s bathroom.

With homeowners creating luxurious master baths, the children’s bath may have been overlooked. However, with a little planning and creativity, it’s easy to create a fun bathroom space for children that can be easily updated as they grow older.

American Standard provides the following ideas to homeowners:

  1. Choose wall treatments that appeal to all ages. Instead of using wallpaper with children’s patterns, choose neutral paint hues or tiles that will complement any color scheme or decor.
  2. Use colorful, easy-to-update accessories. This is the simplest way to add eye appeal. For example, use vibrant colored towels and throw rugs. Or add colored or hand-painted plumbing fixtures, such as the Porcher “Hey Diddle Diddle” sink with a cat playing the fiddle, while an agile cow jumps over the center drain hole that serves as a moon.
  3. Install easy-to-replace fixtures. Start with child-size fixtures that can be replaced with full-sized models later on. The Baby Devoro Two-piece toilet from American Standard has a rim height of 10 ¼ inches, making it ideal for toddlers as well as grade school aged children. This toilet is specially designed for easy installation, making replacement a cinch when the time comes.
  4. Add personalized touches. Customize the bathroom with familiar touches of the home. Hang framed photos of your children’s pets, memorable vacation trips or art the youngsters created. Fill a basket with favorite bathtub toys or nursery rhyme books.
  5. Use lighting to your advantage. In addition to the room’s ambient lighting, bring attention to those customized touches, such as the framed art or photos with accent lighting.
