Planning a new shower with American Standard.

Creating the perfect shower to accommodate your needs is limited only by your imagination, space and budget. Whether you are remodeling or building a house, you can create the shower that fits your lifestyle. American Standard provides these few helpful hints:

  • Identify the amount of space you will have dedicated to a shower unit. The minimum space required for a single-person shower is 32" by 32". Remember to figure in adequate space for all users to comfortably maneuver yet still be in close proximity to the shower sprays.
  • Identify users who will use the shower. Will you need a single or two persons shower? This may depend on the amount of space dedicated to the shower unit.
  • If installing a two persons shower, consider the height of the individuals using it. Installing separate control valves or adjusting the height of the each shower head maybe an option for more personalized comfort. A hand-held personal shower on a slide bar is ideal for a family as it easily adjusts to users' different heights.
  • Remember the age of the users. You may want to think about installing a scald-protection safety valve especially if children or the elderly will be using the shower unit or looking at a unit that includes a seat.
